It All Belongs To God

As I become more familiar with Christ I learn many new things and and have been enlightened in much concerning truth and deception.
But concerning biblical principle; understanding and acceptance of this only come through revelation from the Holy Spirit, without which I would have a choice, either accept or deny. But because of the supernatural revealing of the Mind and Heart of God I have only one recourse; trust and believe. There is no other possible response. One can deny it all they want but deep down they know where it comes from and that it is truth for God cannot lie.
I have been reminded of one of those principles over and over again as I walked with the Lord in my life. The principle: "It all belongs to God."
But never before have I been tested to trust in this than in these last few days. In giving I have often been reminded that it isn't mine anyway so if the Lord asks its His to have or His to give to others and
I am only steward of His belongings. It may even be possible to give what we have and to do so willingly and even joyfully but this is not so easily done when it comes to loss.
In these last few days as I deal with the realization of the loss of my dear mother and experience the pain of absence and the grief of loneliness for her voice and presence, letting go seems almost impossible. And my willingness to trust and believe is given with great struggle, a struggle that borders on rebellion.
But once again I am reminded, she was never mine nor me hers.
We both belong to Him.
And what a perfect time for God to send me this reminder, just two days before He has proven His great affection for us all by giving us what was always His and in that gift losing the only Son He has.
I am sure His loss, though seemingly unbearable at the time, was made bearable because God knows that it was His plan all along that one day He and His Son would once again sit side by side for all eternity.
So as I bear the unbearable I am encouraged to know that there is a day in His plan that she and I will once again meet face to face and dwell together for all eternity. And what a joyous day that will be!
I love you Mom and await our Fathers plan to bring us together again.

WORDS......

“The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them” (Proverbs 12:6).

In the tall grass lies the lion in wait for the small defenseless antelope in an unaware moment to pounce upon the weaker. The small antelope in an instant will lose its life at the jaws of the ferocious beast. In a moment life is lost forever. So are the power of words from the lips of uncaring and wicked men. The words lie in wait to destroy and wound innocent people. Some words never lose their sting through the years. Their power to cause pain is there long after the one who spoke is gone. The words of a dad in anger will sting and infect for decades. The jabs of a husband to his bride lie silently in the mind of his bride for years. The words spoken through uncaring lips are deadly and devastating.

How good are the words of the upright? They are the words of the physician who declares, "The disease is gone!" They are the words of the minister who declares, "Your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more!" They are the words of a dad that says, "Son, I am proud of you! " They are the words of a man to his bride, "I love and cherish you above all of life!" They are the words of rescue to all who are lost in a surge of dark and powerful waves of the world. They are the light in a dark night.

A friend shares his devotions with me and others through emails, I must admit that I don't read them all, but this one really spoke to me. Not that I grew up being verbally abused, nor have I ever been married so I cannot say that I have abused my spouse, though there have been relationships, there was rarely any verbal abuse. As for wicked words spoken to others, I try to be nice most times. I'm not saying I'm perfect, not even close to it because my mouth does have a tendency to get me in trouble at times but the reason this message ministered to me is because I have seen the effects of Words in the lives of people who are very close to me. Many times I wish that there was something that I could say to ease the sting of these words because I can feel the hurt in them even though they were not aimed at me.

Remember telling others when you were just a kid, 'You better take that back' if they said something to hurt you? Well the Truth is that once spoken it's not so easy to just take them back. Words do last, and the pain of hurtful words may linger a lot longer than we would believe.

Someone once told me that I had a short man's attitude. What does that mean? Well being only 5'4" I have always had a tendency to feel that I needed to defend myself when attacked verbally, even if it was done in jest, didn't matter to me, pride said "Hit back".
And still most times when someone takes a jab at me verbally I still have the impulse to jab back, but I have learned to keep my testimony, (most of the time), :)

Yes, Words do have power, God says they have the power of life and death, Prov. 18 : 21, but the Lord I serve has triumphed over them:

Psalm 30:1-5

1 I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me.

2 O Lord my God, I cried to You and You have healed me.

3 O Lord, You have brought my life up from Sheol (the place of the dead); You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit (the grave).

4 Sing to the Lord, O you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.

5 For His anger is but for a moment, but His favor is for a lifetime or in His favor is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

And He says that I am free from the power they once held over me. I don’t feel the sting as I did in the past, but yet, they can still hurt at times….

How many times have you wished you could have just “Taken Back” the words you said in anger or fear? How many times have you ever felt hurt by the words spoken to you by someone you loved or respected? And do you still feel the pain of Words spoken to you in the past?

I do not wish to end this with a negative, so the most important question is; How has God comforted, healed, forgiven, or empowered you over the power of Words? Please share

To See Inside The Heart

John 4:13-15

J.B. Phillips New Testament
13-14 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water I will give him will never be thirsty again. For my gift will become a spring in the man himself, welling up into eternal life.”
15 The woman said, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may stop being thirsty—and not have to come here to draw water any more!”

Two things spoken by the Samaritan woman at the well:
First is she seeks a sustainer. We thirst for much more than just water in life. Some thirst for power and recognition and will step over everyone on their climb up the corporate ladder, but most just need to be assured that what they work for and what they build and grow will not perish or be taken from them. That when we invest of ourselves in something that is precious and valuable to us that it will increase and net fruit. Wether it be our bank accounts or our relationships. Our hopes are all the same, we want the best for our families and our children.
This woman has had numerous men in her life and is now involved with another who does not respect her enough to marry her. If we can see past the immorality of her life choices and not judge her then we will see that in those lost relationships there must be much pain and sense of failure and loss. She thirsts for companionship, true friendship, love.
And second she asks for relief from having to draw water from that particular place. Notice she says, nor come HERE to draw (NIV)... In her time the village women came to that well to draw their days water, they did so in the cool of the morning. This woman comes in the heat of the day. Why? Why come when the work is most laborious? When all the other women are gone? The answer is ridicule and shame. Shame of her reputation, shame of her lifestyle, personal shame of yet one more bad relationship.
She thirsts for Redemption! She is really saying to Jesus before she even knows Him as Messiah, please be my unending source of peace and please take my shame from me that I may again enjoy the cool of the morning and the friendship of those around me. Be my companion, my endless love.
The heart of a person is so clear to see, if we can but only not look through the lens of judgment.

My Testimony In Chinese: Published 2007 The Spring Inc.

Where Have You Laid Him

John 11:33-36

33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. 34 And He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.”

Do we believe as the mourners there did that Jesus grieved over the death of His friend? Or do we understand that Jesus not only knew where Lazarus was buried but also knew he would live again before he even began the journey to his town?

Jesus asks where they had laid him not because He did not know but because He was giving us the picture of true friendship, allowing for this time to remain fully man in their eyes. If he had just went straight to the tomb then the people would have been expecting a miracle from the Son of God and not instead seeing Christ’s love and compassion for one man.

"Jesus wept" we know Jesus did not weep over the death of a friend, and I say it is not over the lack of faith of those who mourn as I have heard some say. But I believe Jesus wept not for, but with the friends and family of mourners. I believe He shared in their time of grief to comfort and let them know it is ok to grieve and mourn.

We must learn this as well, to be joyful for others and with others in their time of joy and to mourn with others in their time of sorrow and for others. Jesus wept not for the loss of His friend but because the others were filled with sorrow and grief and He had compassion for them.

Jesus went there with the purpose of knowing what He would find and what He would do. And He allowed time to minister to the mourners and to the family he encountered there but He came for a purpose, to bring life to something that was dead. He asks the family, where have you laid him, and they reply by saying come and see.

His purpose had a place and it was not in the vale of tears but instead His purposes place is where dead things lie!

There are so many lessons in this one very short verse, we must follow Christ’s example and grieve for those who grieve, to mourn with the mourners, to allow ourselves to become less than who we are to comfort and minister, to esteem others greater than ourselves.... But we must also learn the lesson of purpose. You must travel with purpose and your purpose must have a place. Like Jesus, That place is where dead things lie. Jesus wants to resurrect the dead things in people's lives, dead marriages, dead families, dead hopes, and dead dreams. Go to these places, allow yourself to mourn with them, grieve because they grieve but then ask as Jesus did, Take me to the thing that is dead.....

35 Jesus wept. 36 Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!”

Making Friends

“Don’t make your adversary your enemy, make your adversaries your friends.” ~Ret Gen Colin Powell~
Matthew 18:15-17

15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

Matt 5:21-25 highlight vss23-25
....23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. 25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.

My Thoughts
As I heard General Powell say this in an interview this morning God said to me,  "That’s the Holy Spirit speaking to you."
I don’t have many enemies, although there are some. I share the Gospel and so, believe it or not, doing so brings them out of the woodwork. But when I think back, I recall that not all were always enemies, at one point most were adversaries who were ignored or handled with scorn and because of this they became enemies.
I would never compromise my convictions, to me the Word of God is still Truth and there is no substitute for the Truth. But because I do share the Gospel I do have many adversaries. Sometimes I meet them on the street, at the store, at work or even at times they seek me out to give their view on that "Jesus rising from the dead" thing....lol. Some are open to God's Word but yet others take a hard stance and may even be offended by the Gospel. It is with them that God is cautioning wisdom, not compromise, but wisdom in dealing with them.
Its time to begin to cultivate relationship with not only those who agree with and like us, but also to those who disagree and think we're all nuts....ha-ha. What glory it would bring to the Father if we can win over those who at first meeting oppose us. In Matt 5:25 the word "adversary" is not translated as enemy, it means opponent. Here are some synonyms of opponent, adversary, antagonist, challenger, competitor, disputant, opposer....there are others and enemy is even one of them. But I believe that for the Christian we have but one enemy, Satan and his hoard of demonic spirits.
Because relationship is most important thing to God, (Matt 22:34-40) it must be the most important thing to us as well.  We may have failed in the past with our relationships but that doesn’t mean that God cannot restore what we have destroyed or that we cannot build on what God presents to us, or in this matter whom God brings before us.
The trick is to use the Truth in the Word of God to win them over and not our own learned independent thought processes.....if we can do that, then God tells us we have won a friend.
Be Blessed in Your Friendships,

I Was There...

As He stood before Pilate I screamed from the crowd, "Crucify Him!" And as the Roman soldiers mocked at Him and spit on him I laughed like all the rest. The loud SMACK of the slap that went across His face excited me towards even more lust for violence so I made sure I had a front row position to witness His flogging. As the soldier chose his whip I was already screaming for blood, "Do it! Hurry up... and peel the skin from His bones!" With every swing of the whip I cheered for more at the top of my lungs, and when it was over my lust for blood and violence was not nearly satisfied. I followed Him as He carried His cross all the way to Golgotha, all the while mocking, cursing and spitting at Him. At one point I ran up to Him and tore out a fist full of His beard. When we reached the place of His crucifixion and I watched Him crawl onto the cross on His own I felt a moment of confusion.....but it passed. Then He offered His wrist to the Centurion who held a large spike and hammer and again I wondered at that. Most resist and struggle and this blasphemer goes to His death on the cross willingly? I was perplexed, but then I saw the blood and heard the cry of extreme agony and my bloodlust was brought back with a vengeance! Again I mocked at Him and yelled up to Him, "Ha! You see? He isn't The Son of God, He has no power! He cannot even take Himself off of that cross!" Then as I watched for His reaction hoping to see fear and pain and shame, or maybe even anger or hatred, His eyes met mine and I heard Him say, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do!" and at that moment something entered my mind....just a thought but this thought questioned everything I had ever done and especially what I was doing now. Could this truly be Him? Could He really be who He said Himself to be? He said more while He hung on that cross but all I can remember was "forgive him" He was asking God to forgive me....Darkness! Wha....what is this? Earthquake! I'm terrified! I see a spear thrust into His body and blood mingled with water gushes from His side and I am struck with a new kind of fear. Something I have never before felt, it came from deep within me. I have sinned, not just now but I was aware of all of my sin. What have I done!? "Forgive him" I hear Him say. Over and over I hear Him say "forgive him". Grief overcomes me, shame and guilt overwhelmed me. I fall to my knees as though driven there by a burden I cannot bear. And there I remain, sobbing and begging God for His forgiveness and then peace surrounds me but grief remains. He was here with me all along and I never knew, I grieve over the lost years in His presence but peace because I have received the forgiveness He prayed for for me while He hung on that cross. As He is lowered down from the cross I rush to give assistance, His body is limp and lifeless, His skin is peeled back from the muscle and the muscle from the bone. As I reach upward to help lower the King of the Jews down form that rugged and splintery cross His blood covers my arms, then my clothes and for a brief moment I hold this Man close to my body all the while wondering why. Why did I want so bad for this to happen? Why did He not come down off the cross Himself? Why did He not speak up for Himself and stop this whole thing? Then it accord to me, if He had done any of those things I would not have been forgiven. When I tell others how I became a Christian I will tell them of His sacrifice, and I will tell them, I was there.
